2020 Nissan Sentra for Sale in West Springfield, MA
Nissan has redesigned its long-running Sentra compact sedan, which it introduced to the United States as a fuel economy superstar in 1982. As it starts its eighth generation, the Sentra returns with a new engine that’s 20 percent more powerful than the last. It also boasts an attention-getting slate of standard features, highlighted by advanced technology for both connectivity and collision avoidance. It remains affordable, though, to the delight of first-time car buyers and budget-minded drivers at all stages in life. This economical four-door still gets good gas mileage, with the EPA rating the two lower trims for 29 miles to the gallon around town and 39 mpg on the highway. The more loaded top trim shaves off a single mile per gallon off the combined rating.
Comfort and Convenience
The 2020 Sentra’s streamlined trim choices are the S, SV, and SR. The base-model S packs a lot into a package that starts below $20,000: push-button start, automatic headlights, a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a bundle of driver-assist features (see the Safety Technology section below). The SV adds automatic climate control (dual-zone), a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated exterior mirrors with turn-signal lights, Nissan Intelligent Key technology, and both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The best-appointed Sentra, the SR, spoils its occupants with sport cloth upholstery with contrasting orange stitching (leatherette is an added-cost option), LED fog lights, and a leather-wrapped shift knob.
Safety and Technology
Standard on the 2020 Nissan Sentra is the excellent driver-assist package known as Nissan Safety Shield 360. It contains intelligent forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, a blind spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, rear automatic braking, and high beam assist. All trims also receive rear sonar for backup assist, intelligent trace control, and an intelligent driver alertness feature.
The SV and SR are enhanced with intelligent cruise control, and those who order the SR can include Nissan’s intelligent around-view monitor. All trims contain potentially life-saving reinforcements such as side impact beams, an energy-absorbing steering column, a full complement of air bags, and front and rear crumple zones.
The base information/entertainment system in the 2020 Nissan Sentra is well done, with a relatively large (7-inch diagonal) touchscreen for the economy sedan segment, plus hands-free text messaging assistant, voice recognition, Bluetooth capabilities, an audio system with four speakers, and a USB port. The SV trim adds an inch to its touchscreen, plus satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, two more speakers, and two more USB ports, including a USB-C port. The SR has those same additions, and it’s eligible for the optional Bose audio system with eight speakers.
