Rogue Plug-in Hybrid Preview
If you’ve been wondering when Nissan would finally release a PHEV, the answer is very soon. The soon-to-be-introduced Rogue Plug-in Hybrid will become the first vehicle of its type for Nissan USA. When this electrified version of the make’s best-selling crossover reaches showrooms in early 2026, buyers can expect an all-electric driving range of 38 miles before hybrid operation kicks in with an estimated total range of 420 miles per tank. Thanks to a total system output of 248 horsepower, this version of the Rogue will be the most powerful to hit American streets. We expect a zero-to-60 mph time of less than 7.0 seconds. Standard all-wheel drive will help with both acceleration and road grip.
As far as appearance, the Rogue Plug-in Hybrid will present a fresh design along with a larger footprint, distinguishing it from the standard Rogue. These differences result in a futuristic exterior and an expanded cabin that offers three rows of seating for seven occupants. More details will come closer to production, but we’ve compiled what we know so far.

Nissan will offer the seven-seat Rogue Plug-in Hybrid in trims called SL and Platinum. Both will have a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a plug-in hybrid system for a total output of 248 horsepower and 332 lb.-ft. of torque. Look for the standard all-wheel-drive configuration to be managed by a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Nissan says that the estimated fuel economy will be 25 mpg around town and 27 mpg on the open road. As mentioned in the intro, the all-electric driving range is forecast at 38 miles.
Nissan projects that the 20 kWh lithium-ion hybrid battery will take about 7.5 hours to fully charge via Level 2/240-volt charging. When it’s properly equipped, the Rogue Plug-in Hybrid will be able to tow up to 1,500 pounds. Preliminary estimates for cargo space start at 12.8 cubic feet behind the third row and expanding to 30.8 cubic feet behind the second row, with a potential for 64.7 cubic feet when both back seats are folded down.
Standard Features
Expect the SL to be a well-equipped base trim with leatherette upholstery, heated front seats, an eight-way power driver's seat with lumbar controls, a power liftgate, LED exterior lighting, a head-up display, a 12.3-inch driver information display, and dual-zone automatic climate control. Nissan also plans to give this trim proximity keyless entry, push-button start, second-row HVAC vents, sun visors with illuminated vanity mirrors, heated power side mirrors with integrated LED turn indicators, rear privacy glass, four USB ports, wireless device charging, and 20-inch aluminum wheels.
As the higher-priced trim, the Platinum will come with additional attractive amenities. Those should include leather upholstery, a power panoramic moonroof, heated second-row seats, tri-zone automatic climate control, a driver's position memory system, an eight-way power front passenger seat with lumbar controls and memory, roof rails, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, LED cabin accent lighting, and a cargo-area cover.
Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology
The upcoming Rogue Plug-in Hybrid will receive Nissan Safety Shield 360 as a standard feature. This advanced driver-assistance suite consists of predictive forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane change assist, blind-spot assist and intervention, rear cross-traffic alert, rear automatic braking, driver alertness monitor, traffic sign recognition, and adaptive cruise control. ProPILOT Assist hands-on driver support will be standard as well, along with a surround-view monitor, rear door alert, and front and rear parking sensors. Multiple airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, and a rearview monitor will be part of the underlying safety equipment.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The infotainment system in the Rogue Plug-in Hybrid will be built around a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Bluetooth. Other technology is slated to include access to NissanConnect services, with a six-speaker audio system in the SL and a nine-speaker Bose system in the Platinum.
