2026 Nissan Frontier

2026 Nissan
Frontier

The Frontier, a long-time mainstay in the light-truck segment, provides buyers with a streamlined lineup with more to offer for 2026. The S and SV now have LED headlights, while the PRO-X and PRO-4X get heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and remote start. The SV and both PRO trims enhance comfort with an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seats (an improvement from the previous 6-way adjustability) and a new drive-mode selector with settings labeled Rock, Sand, On-Road, Mud, and Hill Descent Control. The SV is also now available with the new All-Weather Package, for buyers who want a heated steering wheel and heated front seats without everything the carryover SV Convenience Package has. Dedicated trail riders seeking extra performance can now get the PRO-4X R package, which adds Roush Performance off-road suspension among other modifications. The new Dark Armor Package gives the SV a distinctive look, with a dark exterior and interior accents, and the debuting Citrus Strike color joins the exterior palette for the PRO trims. The Frontier family loses a member for 2026 with the discontinuation of the high-end SL trim, but its wireless charger, premium audio system, and onboard navigation remain available on the PRO-X and PRO-4X via the PRO Premium Package.

Trims, Powertrain, and Configurations

The 2026 Frontier is built in four trim packages: S, SV, PRO-X, and PRO-4X. The powertrain pairs a 3.8-liter V6 engine (output: 310 horsepower and 281 lb.-ft. of torque) with a 9-speed automatic transmission. The S and SV come standard with a rear-wheel drivetrain (RWD) but are available with four-wheel drive (4WD). The PRO-X comes only with RWD, while the PRO-4X is exclusively 4WD. All trims with RWD return an EPA-estimated 19 mpg city and 24 mpg highway. The S and SV achieve 17 mpg city/21 mpg highway with 4WD, while the PRO-4X drops slightly to 16 city/20 highway mpg.

The Crew Cab configuration seats five with a 60/40-split fold-up rear bench seat. It can be paired with the standard 5-foot bed on every trim, or with a 6-foot bed on the SV and PRO-4X. The S alone has a King Cab option, which seats four in folding 50/50 rear jump seats, and is paired only with the long bed. All Frontiers get an independent double-wishbone front suspension, with coil springs over shock absorbers and a stabilizer bar. The King Cab S rides atop a rigid axle leaf rear suspension over shock absorbers, while Crew Cab Frontiers add a rear stabilizer bar. The PRO-X and PRO-4X are trail-ready, equipped with Bilstein off-road performance shock absorbers. Although every Frontier comes with an active brake limited-slip differential, the PRO-4X upgrades to an electronic locking rear differential. The RWD S leads the lineup in towing, boasting a 7,160-pound limit with the King Cab/long bed configuration.

Standard Features by Trim

The S has cloth-upholstered six-way manually adjustable seats, remote keyless entry, push-button ignition, a 7-inch reconfigurable digital information display, a 12-volt DC power outlet, and LED headlights. You’ll find two USB ports and 16-inch styled steel wheels on this trim with the King Cab/long bed configuration, but the Crew Cab S upgrades to four USB ports and 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. The Utility Package adds a spray-on bedliner and two 120-volt AC power outlets (center console and bed-mounted).

The SV is upgraded with premium cloth seats, an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, a color-coded grille with metallic trim, and 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. The optional All-Weather Package will furnish heated front seats, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone automatic temperature control, and remote start, to which the SV Convenience Package adds a spray-on bedliner, a Utili-track Channel System with two adjustable tie-down cleats, two 120-volt AC power outlets (center console and bed-mounted), LED bed lighting, and a Class IV trailer hitch with a 7-pin wiring harness.

The PRO-X and PRO-4X both receive specially embroidered cloth seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and Nissan Intelligent Key with push-button start and a front-door request switch. They are also ruggedly equipped with LED fog lights, recovery hooks, and 17-inch PRO-exclusive aluminum-alloy wheels with all-terrain tires. The PRO-4X stands out with exclusive skid plates and off-road gauges for pitch, roll, 4x4 engagement, and differential lock status. Buyers of both the PRO-X and PRO-4X can add the PRO Convenience Package to get wireless smartphone charging and heated exterior mirrors, as well as everything found in the SV Convenience Package. The PRO Premium Package contains leather-appointed seats, a power moonroof, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink. The PRO-4X is also available with the PRO-4X R upgrade, consisting of Roush-branded embroidered upholstery, a Roush off-road-tuned performance suspension, a 2-inch lift kit (10.6 inches compared to the standard 8.6 inches), titanium accents, special badging, and 17-inch aluminum-alloy off-road wheels with aggressive all-terrain tires.

Safety Technology

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is installed on every 2026 Frontier, outfitting the full lineup with automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian detection, rear automatic braking mitigation, brake assist, blind-spot warning, lane departure warning, driver attention alert, adaptive cruise control, rear parking sensors, hill start assist, and automatic high beams; hill descent control is added in conjunction with 4WD. The PRO-4X has an Intelligent All-Around View with Off-Road mode, which displays the vehicle’s surroundings to the driver at low speeds during trail riding. The PRO Convenience Package adds a 360-degree surround-view monitor to the PRO-X and PRO-4X, which the PRO Premium Package complements with traffic sign recognition.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The base infotainment suite found on the S includes an 8-inch NissanConnect touch-screen with voice recognition, USB Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, Bluetooth hands-free phone and wireless streaming, an auxiliary input, and four speakers. The higher trims upgrade to a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and six speakers. Both PRO trims are eligible for an upscale 10-speaker Fender audio system with subwoofers via the PRO Premium Package, which also provides Nissan Door-to-Door Navigation, NissanConnect onboard navigation, and real-time weather and traffic updates through SiriusXM Travel Link. NissanConnect Wi-Fi hotspot compatibility is standard, and every Frontier is set up with access to subscription-based NissanConnect Services.
