While the 2025 Murano is all-new, the trim range is recognizable to Nissan fans: SV, SL, and Platinum. They’re all powered by a lively 241-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter engine with variable compression (VC) technology. This VC-Turbo powerplant can adjust its compression ratio to optimize power and efficiency. A nine-speed automatic transmission is its partner in the powertrain.
The SV is available with front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD), while the SL and Platinum are AWD only. Either way, the Murano returns EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings of 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. You’ll find 32.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row, increasing to 63.5 cubic feet when those seats aren’t needed and can be folded down. If you have a small trailer, note that a properly equipped Murano can tow up to 1,500 pounds.
The well-equipped Murano SV has leatherette upholstery, heated front seats, a ten-way power driver’s seat, a six-way power front passenger seat, a power liftgate, dual-zone automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry, and LED exterior lighting with automatic headlamps. It also comes with keyfob-based remote start, a 12.3-inch configurable driver information display, heated power side mirrors, rear privacy glass, a tilt-and-telescopic steering column, a windshield wiper de-icer, variable intermittent windshield wipers, four USB ports, wireless device charging, a 12-volt outlet in the cargo area, and 20-inch alloy wheels.
The SL adds numerous premium amenities, including a panoramic moonroof with a power shade, a heated steering wheel, a driver’s memory system, additional power lumbar controls for the driver’s seat, Murano glass-inspired interior accents, side mirrors with integrated turn signals and reverse tilt-down, sound-reducing front window glass, configurable multi-color ambient cabin lighting, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The Platinum earns its name with elegant upgrades such as quilted semi-aniline leather upholstery, heated and cooled front seats with massage, heated rear outboard seats, a motion-activated power liftgate, a 12-way power driver’s seat, a ten-way power front passenger seat, a head-up display, power-folding side mirrors, rear door sunshades, automatic rain-sensing windshield wipers, and 21-inch wheels.
Nissan Safety Shield 360 is installed in every 2025 Murano. These technologies consist of adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with obstruction detection, blind-spot warning and intervention, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane intervention, rear automatic braking, and automatic high beams. In addition, all trims have front and rear parking sensors, a driver alertness monitor, a rear door alert, and traffic sign recognition.
The SL and Platinum add an advanced surround-view monitor with an Invisible Hood View mode for easy maneuvering around curbs, car wash tracks, and other obstacles. The standard ProPilot Assist system in the SV uses adaptive cruise control with steering assist for more relaxed highway travel. The SL and Platinum get an upgraded version with navigation data-based speed control. All Muranos have a rearview camera, a set of airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, and hill start assist.
The Murano’s infotainment system centers on an advanced 12.3-inch touchscreen, complete with wireless smartphone connection (Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), SiriusXM satellite radio, and Bluetooth. The SL and Platinum feature an upgraded platform with Google built-in, bringing Google Assistant, Google Maps, and other popular apps into the mix. These upper trims also include navigation (with voice recognition), Wi-Fi hotspot capability, and access to NissanConnect services.
