The four versions of the 2024 Armada – the SV, SL, Midnight Edition, and Platinum – are all powered by the Endurance 5.6-liter V8 making 400 horsepower and 413 lb.-ft. of torque. This hefty engine is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission with adaptive shift control and downshift rev matching. A properly equipped Armada can tow up to 8,500 pounds. A two-wheel (4×2) drivetrain is the default, but Intelligent 4-wheel drive with a 2-speed transfer case is available on every trim.
While most trims have three-person bench seats in the second and third rows to accommodate eight passengers, the Midnight Edition has a pair of captain’s chairs in the middle row instead, limiting its capacity to seven. There are plenty of places to stash gear, thanks to under-floor storage behind the third row and eight tie-down hooks in the cargo area.
The SV has remote start, leatherette upholstery, heated front seats, a 10-way power driver’s seat, an 8-way power passenger’s seat, dual-zone automatic temperature control, rear air-conditioning with controls, silky carbon-look interior trim, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and Nissan Intelligent Key with push-button ignition. On the outside, look for 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels, automatic LED headlights with integrated signature, LED daytime running lights and fog lights, power heated and folding side mirrors, silver roof rails, and a Class IV tow hitch receiver with a 7-pin wiring harness.
The SL adds puddle lights and auto-dimming functionality on the side mirrors and moves up to 20-inch alloy wheels with 18 spokes. It also gets leather upholstery (first and second rows),a power sliding glass moonroof, a power liftgate, wood-tone interior trim, double-stitched leather door trim, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, Bose AudioPilot Noise compensation technology, footwell lights, and a position memory system for the driver’s seat, steering wheel, and side mirrors.
The Midnight Edition is an appearance-driven trim that has a black headliner and interior accents, as well as a blacked-out treatment on nearly all of the exterior elements, including the grille, lower-center bumper fascia, side mirrors, roof rails, rear finisher, and badging. As mentioned, it swaps the middle-row bench for two captain’s chairs, featuring tip-up easy entry to the third row and a padded center console with cup holders. The Platinum swaps black for silver and chrome on its grille, door handles, roof rails, and rear finisher, while also getting 22-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and a windshield wiper de-icer. Its cabin has bird’s-eye maple wood-tone trim, quilted leather-appointed seats (first and second rows), an intelligent rearview mirror, heated and ventilated front seats, heated outboard second-row seating, a power reclining and one-touch folding third row, and illuminated cup holders.
Every ‘24 Armada is equipped with safety features such as high beam assist, a 7-inch advanced driver-assist display, and a wealth of Nissan Safety Shield 360 features. This suite of helpful technologies includes a front and rear sonar system, intelligent cruise control, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, intelligent forward collision warning, blind spot warning and intelligent blind spot intervention, lane departure warning and intelligent lane intervention, rear cross-traffic alert, rear automatic braking, and intelligent driver alertness. If you intend to tow with your Armada, you’ll appreciate the helping hand from the trailer sway control and trailer brake controller. The SL and higher trade the standard rearview monitor for Nissan’s Intelligent Around View Monitor, while the Platinum alone adds intelligent back-up intervention, traffic sign recognition, and vehicle-speed-sensitive power steering.
The 2024 Nissan Armada keeps its occupants well connected, with the 12.3-inch NissanConnect color touchscreen infotainment system as the centerpiece. Its major features are Android Auto compatibility, Apple CarPlay integration, voice recognition, Bluetooth, hands-free text messaging, Alexa Built-In, Nissan Door-to-Door Navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio (with a 3-month trial), HD Radio, HomeLink, and NissanConnect services with trial access. While the SV gets a more basic sound system, the higher trims are upgraded with a Bose premium audio system with 13 speakers, including a center speaker and subwoofer.
