The 2024 Ariya is a compact electric crossover that Nissan offers in five trim packages: Engage, Venture, Evolve, Empower, and Platinum. Those with a plus sign are equipped with an 87-kWh battery, while the others feature a 63-kWh unit. Each trim’s name indicates its drivetrain as well, either front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). The Engage is available with both drivetrains, but the Engage+ is AWD only. The Venture+ and Empower+ are exclusively FWD, while the Evolve+ is available with both drivetrains. The Platinum+ is strictly AWD.
The ‘24 Ariya’s performance depends on its drivetrain and battery size. Specifically, FWD models with the 63-kWh battery make 214 hp and 221 lb.-ft. of torque, while those with the 87-kWh battery deliver 238 hp and 221 lb.-ft. of torque. AWD models boast a sizable boost in output, with the 63-kWh battery versions generating 335 hp and 413 lb.-ft. of torque and the 87-kWh battery versions producing 389 hp and 442 lb.-ft. of torque.
Driving range with the ’24 Ariya depends on the trim, battery, and drivetrain combination. The AWD Engage achieves a maximum range of 205 miles (101 MPGe city, 89 MPGe highway), while the AWD Engage+ and AWD Evolve+ reach up to 272 miles (97 MPGe city, 86 MPGe highway). Meanwhile, the FWD Engage offers 216 miles on a single charge (109 MPGe city, 94 MPGe highway). The Venture+ excels with a range of 304 miles (111 MPGe city, 95 MPGe highway).
With the FWD Evolve+ and Empower+, driving range caps at 289 miles (105 MPGe city, 91 MPGe highway). This decreases to 267 miles with the AWD Platinum+ (93 MPGe city, 87 MPGe highway), though a further reduction by 10 miles will occur when the vehicle is configured with 20-inch wheels (89 MPGe city, 84 MPGe highway).
The Engage is certainly inviting with its leatherette upholstery, heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front and rear seats, power-adjustable driver’s seat with position memory, proximity keyless entry, push-button ignition, 12.3-inch reconfigurable LCD instrument cluster, 60/40-split folding rear seatback, four USB ports (two Type-A and two Type-C), heated power-folding side mirrors, and LED headlights. The Venture+ lacks some of those features (namely the heated front and rear seats, power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory, heated steering wheel, and leatherette upholstery), but it has the 87-kWh battery.
The Evolve+ reinstalls the Engage’s features and adds wireless phone charging, a power-adjustable front passenger’s seat, a moonroof with a power sunshade, a power liftgate, a HomeLink universal garage door opener, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and LED fog lights. The Empower+ gets some extra safety features (more on those below), while the elite-tier Platinum+ introduces Nappa leather upholstery, ventilated front seats with passenger position memory, and side mirrors with turn-signal indicators.
Every ‘24 Ariya trim includes the Nissan Safety Shield 360 suite of active driving aids. This consists of forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, reverse automatic braking, automatic high beams, traffic sign recognition, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, driver attention alert, hands-on ProPILOT Assist adaptive cruise control, and front and rear parking sensors. The Evolve+ gains a surround-view camera, while the Empower+ and Platinum+ feature a hands-free ProPILOT Assist adaptive cruise control system and automatic parking assist.
The advanced NissanConnect infotainment system is standard in the ’24 Ariya. With each trim, you’ll get a 12.3-inch touchscreen featuring connected navigation, voice recognition, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming. Most trims come with a six-speaker sound system, but the Platinum+ is loaded with a premium 10-speaker Bose.
