2022 Nissan Frontier

Overview
For more than 20 years, the hard-wearing Frontier has served hardworking people. It’s a tradition that Nissan took to heart when redesigning this midsized pickup. The result is an irresistible blend of the Frontier’s original ruggedness and the latest technology. Some trims are more work-oriented, while the PRO-X and PRO-4X come equipped for off-pavement adventures. Regardless of which one you choose, you’ll get a class-leading 310 horsepower and all of today’s sought-after tech features for safer driving and staying connected.
S Trim
This base-level Frontier pulls no punches with its straightforward list of standard features for those who are simply looking for a dependable work truck with all of the necessities and a few extras. It has cloth seats, a front skid plate, a locking tailgate, 16-inch steel wheels automatic headlights, LED taillights, cruise control, remote keyless entry, push-button ignition, air conditioning, a 7-inch driver information display, a tilt steering column, second-row under-seat storage. It’s also well set up with these Nissan Safety Shield driver-assist technologies: automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, Intelligent Driver Alertness, intelligent forward collision warning, and a rearview monitor. If you’re ordering the S, you can tack on the Technology Package, which furnishes rear automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and high-beam assist. For infotainment, there’s an 8-inch touchscreen system with six speakers, smartphone integration (Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a pair of USB ports.
SV Trim
The SV doesn’t get a ton more standard (two upgrades are a six-way power driver’s seat and 17-inch aluminum wheels) but it is eligible for more via the SV Convenience Package. That optional bundle will supply remote start, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, heated exterior mirrors, fog lights, daytime running lights, proximity key, push-button ignition, and dual-zone automatic climate control. The same package also adds equipment to increase the truck’s utility, such as LED bed lighting, a cargo bed tie-down system, a sprayed-on bedliner, a 120V outlet, and a tow hitch receiver. Crew-cab configurations of this trim may be enhanced with the SV Premium Package, which furnishes a power moonroof, leather seats, LED headlights and fog lights, LED interior lighting, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror while upgrading the sound system to a Fender unit with 10 speakers.
PRO-X Trim
A mix of standard and available features brings the Pro-X up to another level. The included equipment ranges from Bilstein shocks to LED headlights and fog lights. It also gets LED daytime running lights, LED interior lighting, 17-inch dark-finished alloy wheels, trim-specific exterior accents, proximity key entry, push-button start, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, fabric seats embroidered with “PRO-X,” and dual-zone automatic climate control. The available PRO Convenience Package has the remaining items contained in the SV Convenience Package plus a wireless smartphone charger, traffic sign recognition, and an around-view monitor. The PRO Premium Package will swap in 17-inch beadlock-style wheels, leather seats, the Fender audio system with 10 speakers, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror while also installing a power moonroof. The infotainment system moves up to a 9-inch touchscreen and adds navigation, Nissan telematics, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
PRO-4X Trim
The Frontier reaches the height of ruggedness with the PRO-4X, which boasts the most off-roading oriented features. The most noteworthy among them are additional steel underbody plates, an aluminum front skid plate, an electronic locking rear differential, and hill descent control. Some exclusive accents are applied both inside and out. The PRO Convenience and PRO Premium Packages are available as well.
