Trims and Powertrain
The 2022 Altima comes in seven trims: S, SV, SR, SR Midnight Edition, SR VC-Turbo, SL, and Platinum. The standard engine for all trims (except the SR VC-Turbo) is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine making 188 horsepower and 180 lb.-ft. of torque. AWD is standard on the Platinum, but it’s not offered on the S or SR VC-Turbo trims. The SR VC-Turbo gets a variable-compression turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 248 horsepower and 273 lb.-ft. of torque.
The EPA has estimated fuel economy for most FWD trims (although not the SR, SR Midnight, and SR VC-Turbo) at 28 mpg in the city and 39 mpg on the highway. That changes to 27 city/37 highway for the SR and SR Midnight. The AWD-equipped SV and SL are rated for 26 city/36 highway, while the SR and Platinum with AWD are rated for 25 city/35 highway. The Altima SR VC-Turbo is officially estimated to get 25 mpg around town and 34 mpg on the highway.
